What is UV-C?
UV light spans the electromagnetic spectrum between 100 and 400 nm, with photon energies ranging from 3 to 124 eV. UV-A (400 to 315 nm), UV-B (315 to 280 nm), very high energy and destructive UV-C (280 to 200 nm), and vacuum UV are the four wavelengths in the UV sector (200 to 100 nm).
UVC has been shown to have germicidal (or germ-killing) properties. The electromagnetic waveform of 253.7 nm is efficiently absorbed by DNA and RNA (the genetic code for all lifeforms), altering their structure. This damage prevents the damaged cells from reproducing, which means they can no longer infect and are no longer harmful.

How does it affect germs?
Microorganisms are simple organic structures that readily absorb the UVC wavelength, causing photo-disassociation (destruction). A microbe’s DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, is first to be adversely affected due to its weaker molecular bonds.
In hundredths of a second, it suffers irreparable damage. The subsequent loss of genetic instructions causes cell death and/or the inability to replicate, rendering them harmless. Continuous exposure causes uninterrupted degradation, such as the sun does, only significantly faster.
Benefits of UVC in Air-Conditioning
Increased Airflow – When it comes to keeping your home cool without putting excess strain on your air air-conditioning system, airflow is one of the most important factors. As time goes on, debris builds up within your system, and although the air filter works to trap some of these particles, it can only do so much. Adding a UV light can give your system a serious boost, ensuring optimal airflow.
Improved Efficiency – Airflow is hindered by accumulated microorganisms on the HVAC coil. To remedy this, you might be required to run the system for an extended period to achieve the desired temperatures. UV lights on your coil help destroy the microorganisms that slow down smooth airflow.
Decrease Energy Costs – Increased airflow and improved efficiency go hand-in-hand with decreased energy costs. When your air conditioning system works efficiently, it requires less energy to operate.
Kills Mold and Bacteria – Air conditioning systems are great at keeping your home cool and comfortable. But it’s almost impossible for air conditioning systems to remain dry internally. Add a humid climate then you have a recipe for mould and bacteria. UV light significantly reduces microbes on the coils within your system. The microbes are incapacitated before they can ever become airborne, reducing the risk of mould and other bacteria infiltrating the rooms in your home.
Remove VOCs – Volatile organic compounds are all around us and include both human-made and naturally occurring compounds. VOCs have a direct impact on the quality of the air in your home, which means they have an impact on your health too. With the added benefits of UV light, you can seriously reduce the number of VOCs in your home.
Samsung AR 4500 Inverter Air-Conditioner
This new Samsung AR 4500 range with Digital Inverter saves money by constantly maintaining pre-set temperature without constantly switching on and off. Cooling capacities from 2.50 kW up to 6.45 kW, heating from 2.6 kW up to 6.75 kW. EERs (Cooling W/W) are from 3.01 up to 3.21 and COPs (Heating W/W) up to 3.55. Piping lengths (indoor/outdoor) are 15 to 25 metres, with a height difference of 10 metres.
